TRADITIONAL AND RITUAL PERFORMING ARTS IN JAPAN
Those who actively involved in the traditional performing arts are the ones born and raised in the region and regularly work in agriculture, forestry, fishery, retail, education, public offices, etc. Then at night, they practice the traditional arts handed down from one generation to another with appreciation for the local deity and their ancestors. They do it not for their living, but because of their passion for another handing down of the tradition to the next generation. It will be an experience of your lifetime if you can see the actual traditional performance in the midst of the environment, atmosphere and historical background where the art form has been nurtured and developed.
JPA will introduce traditional performing arts and the lives of the local tradition supporters in Japan on a rolling basis.
